Welcome! This is our first entry!

Welcome to the Lake Region Writers Network blog.

The latest news is our kick-off conference, Writers Helping Writers, which takes place on October 3 at M State Fergus Falls. The conference will meet in Legacy Hall.

Jocelyn Hale, executive director of The Loft Literary Center, will talk about the benefits of networking and tell us ways writers help other writers across the state.

Tim Rundquist, editor of Otter Tail Review, will tell the back-story (and headaches) behind getting the Otter Tail Review to press.

Immediately after the conference, we’ll have a pre-release party at The Spot, a wine and panini bar in downtown Fergus Falls (220 West Lincoln Avenue), where we’ll hear excerpts from Volume III.

If you’re a published author, display and sell your publication at the conference. If you’re not published and want to know how to go about the publishing process, go to one of the workshops led by Leon Ogroske, editor of WRITERS’ Journal or Linda Lein and Dean Hulse, who take workshop participants from manuscript to publication through traditional and nontraditional routes.

Check out the conference schedule to find out what else is going on that day. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and greet other writers – register now!

Advance registration deadline is September 26 for adults ($25) and students ($15). Send check to Lake Region Writers Network, P. O. Box 356, Battle Lake, MN 56515. Registration includes lunch. (At the door registration is $40 ($25 students)).

The conference runs from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Doors open at 8:00 for registration and book browsing.

I was ill and could not attend the conference on 10-3. I’m curious as to the number of people who did attend. Also, will you be updating your activities? This group sounds like it could be helpful to me. I have written a book and I now have enough rejection letters to force myself into a fetal position.
